Ever found yourself in a strange city for a few days and wondered where the best and safest places were for urban birding? Or are you are thinking of going on a city break and would like to incorporate a half or full day of urban birding? Or perhaps, you are not even a birder but would just want to experience a city in a new and exciting way?
Well, why not hire the services of an approved and vetted URBAN BIRDER City Guide for a day or half-day tour and be shown the avian delights of the city that you find yourself within.
Let’s face it, urban environments are perhaps the unlikeliest of environments to encounter birds, let alone plan a trip to watch them. But you will be surprised. Over 20% of the world’s 10,500+ species live in our cities with yet more passing through our human settlements. Indeed, cities like Nairobi, Kenya have recorded over 600 species within their city limits. Even in London, England the bird list is steadily approaching 400 species. Worldwide, you can observe urban eagles, waterbirds, seabirds, songbirds and even globally threatened species like the Bogotá Rail in Bogotá, Colombia. The great thing is that often birds in urban situations are often more approachable than their more rural counterparts.
You can come to us with a definite idea of sites that you would like to visit or the birds that you would like to see. Or, if you just fancy a nice day out being taken to urban birding locations as suggested by our local guides, that’s cool too. Either way, allow us to create the ideal birding experience for you. Our URBAN BIRDER City Day Trips can also involve visits to locations outside of the city, if requested, but we will always try to include an urban element. This may take the form of a visit to a park, local to where you are staying, through to visiting notable urban nature reserves like Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina or the London Wetland Centre in London, England.
All of the itineraries will be individually designed with your birding desires in mind: whether you are a beginner wanting to be introduced to the birds of the city to an experienced birder wanting some quality time with nature – allow us to create the perfect birding experience for you.
Our hand-picked URBAN BIRDER City Guides come well recommended and know their respective cities inside out. They are personable as well as highly knowledgeable about the bird life of their city. We are so confident that you will have a good time that, in the unlikely event that your guide is not up scratch when it comes to friendliness and helpfulness, we will refund your money.
