Rafael – or Rafa as he is known to his friends – is a birder, professional wildlife photographer and guide from Barcelona. His photographic work has earned international recognition including two gold medals at the Bird Photographer of the Year contest (2021 and 2023) and the Grand Prize at the Festival Photo Nature Namur (2023).

In March 2024, he published his debut book Portfolio 1: Extraordinary Birds in Photographs and Stories with Lynx Nature Books. This book is the first in a series of coffee table volumes designed to inspire a love for birds and promote conservation.

Rafael’s photography is at the heart of his mission, harnessing the power of images to raise awareness and protect bird species.
