Mandi Baykaa-Murray

The Feather Lady

Also known as ‘The Feather Lady’, Mandi is an award winning wildlife artist inspired by the natural world and is best known for her painted feathers.

A finalist of The David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of The Year 2014 she was shortlisted again in 2015. Mandi was awarded The St Cuthbert‘s Mill Prize for ‘Best Work On Paper’ at the TWASI Annual Exhibition 2016 and ‘The Christopher Parsons Award for Artistic Excellence’ at TWASI 2017 and has been highly commended in recent years.

In 2017, Mandi was invited to be Artist In Residence for a week at Nature In Art, Gloucester where she exhibited her feathers and demonstrated her painting techniques. This led to a successful exhibition at WWT Slimbridge where she raised valuable funds for WWT. Mandi is a regular exhibitor at EWA (Exhibition of Wildlife Art) and other annual events including Rutland Birdfair in 2018 and 2019 and a Solo Exhibition at WWT London in 2020.

Birds of Prey are a favourite subject; a source of intrigue and inspiration with their intense eyes, sharp talons and their beautiful feathers which have become intrinsic to her work.

Mandi is a keen photographer and prefers to work from her personal experiences and using her own reference photos, either from her local walks in the countryside or from travels abroad.

A lover of all animals, Mandi also enjoys painting domestic animals and regularly takes on Pet Portrait commissions.
