Etta Lemon – a mother of the RSPB
Journalist and social historian Tessa Boase spent three years uncovering the hidden women’s story behind the RSPB. Published in 2018 as ‘Mrs Pankhurst’s Purple Feather’, it’s now out in paperback as Etta Lemon – The Woman Who Saved the Birds. In a mission to put these women back into the conservation narrative, Tessa is now running a statue campaign for RSPB founder Emily Williamson.
Tessa grew up in the Ashdown Forest, Sussex and, following a stint on national newspapers, now lives in Hastings with her family and dachshund.
